An Important Breastfeeding Tip Guide
There are many tips regarding breastfeeding that, if paid close attention to and understood, can and will help you
dramatically in the breastfeeding process. After all, the only way to truly understand something is by learning all
you can about it, so making yourself aware of what breastfeeding is all about will help you immensely if you are
planning on breastfeeding your baby.
Breastfeeding Tip #1
The first breastfeeding tip is in regards to how often your baby should nurse. Many mothers are worried that they
are either feeding their baby too much or too little, and this is a problem that can be easily solved. Your baby
should be fed, on cue, at least every two to three hours, and nursing your baby early and often will also help to
keep your breasts soft and will thus help to prevent engorgement.
Breastfeeding Tip #2
The second breastfeeding tip is in regards to the best way to hold your baby while nursing. You should hold your
baby’s tummy to your tummy, with the baby’s chin to your breast. You can either do this standing up or sitting down
and, in order to get the baby to latch on properly, you should hold your breast to their lips and then tickle the
baby’s lips with your nipple until their mouth opens up wide, and then quickly bring them onto the
breast.
You should make sure that your baby’s mouth is covering your entire nipple, and that their lips are rolled out, and
if they are not, you should break the suction by slipping your finger between the baby’s gums and your breast, and
then try latching the baby on again.
Breastfeeding Tip #3
The next breastfeeding tip is in regards to pumping your breast milk. This may be done either when you are trying
to wean the baby, or perhaps even when you simply want to go out for a night and will need to have breast milk
ready and on hand for whoever it is that will be watching the baby.
The most important thing here is to make sure that you get a good breast pump. There are many options to choose
from, and so it can often seem rather frustrating and confusing, but it does not really have to be all that
difficult.
