A Hard Nine Months: Pregnant While Breast
Feeding
After being pregnant for nine months, it is usually a relief to
finally deliver the baby. Your body is still not your own
however, especially if you are breast feeding. For many women,
it can feel like a disaster or the end of the world when you
conceive again so soon after having a baby. Not only are your
pregnant, but you are pregnant while breast feeding.
Advice About Pregnancy During Breast Feeding
First, there is a popular myth that you won’t conceive while
you are breast feeding. This is not true. While some women can
successfully use breast feeding as a form of birth control,
your chances of conception during this time are very good. If
you are interested, talk to your doctor about birth control
pills you can take while you are breastfeeding.
If you do happen to conceive again so quickly, you will need to
think about being pregnant while breast feeding. Not only do
you have a new life dragging on your body’s energy and
reserves, you have a new baby that needs sustenance as well.
Being pregnant while breast feeding is definitely something
that can be done, you just have to be a little extra careful
about what you eat and drink.
Drinking extra water and eating very healthy, filling meals at
regular intervals during the course of a day can help keep your
energy up. During the first three months of any pregnancy, the
fetus is developing its brain and organs, and this takes more
energy from the mother than at any other time during the
pregnancy.
It may seem difficult and impossible, but walking during while
you are pregnant while breast feeding can help with your
overall well being. Always consult your doctor regarding any
kind of exercise before you begin, especially if you have any
complications during your pregnancy.
It is not the end of the world if you are pregnant while breast
feeding. Of course it may mean weaning your first baby a little
early perhaps, but life will eventually even back out and
become fairly normal again. There are usually new mother
support groups that may help ease your mind a little,
especially if you can find other mothers who have gone through
being pregnant while breast feeding also. Believe it or not,
within three or four years, you may even be missing those tiny
baby hands and all of the complications that came along with
them.
